Today, a huge number of technical innovations originate from the component supply industry, whereby both components and subsystems are becoming increasingly complex, more efficient and have less impact on the environment. The noises and vibrations they produce play a decisive role here. As well as the main sources of noise, namely the transmission system together with the motor induction and exhaust system, other contributors to interior noise include ancillary power units, electrical drive units, insulation, windshield wipers, brakes and tires, to name but just a few. They all have an impact on audio perception while driving. This audio perception can be simulated during the development stage of a vehicle using special PAK applications.

Tough Demands on Measuring

At the same time, the parts supply industry is faced by increasingly tougher global competition, greater costing and pricing pressures, as well as more stringent technical specifications on the part of automotive OEMs. For this reason, the role played by the utilized measuring systems is becoming more and more significant. They must

• be approved and accepted by the automobile manufacturer.
